Volunteer
Volunteering your time, skills and talents is a great way to make a difference. Thrive Group organizations rely on volunteers to meet the needs of our residents and clients. Not only does donating your time bring many benefits to those served, but it has also been shown to have a positive impact on the person volunteering. Just a few of these benefits include:
- Finding meaning and purpose – Donating your time can help you find or reinforce things that bring you joy and satisfaction
- Improved health and well-being – Knowing we are helping others can have a positive impact on our physical and mental well-being. Giving our time feels good
- Make new friends – Volunteering provides an excellent opportunity for social connections
- Learn new skills – Spending time in new work environments helps build new skills and expands our experience

At Idlewyld Manor we often seek volunteers to fill the following types of roles:
Recreation Assistant
Help out with our Recreation team to create and bring programs to the residents. Whether it is celebrating with birthday parties, to socials or helping a resident with our Wii system, we are always keeping our residents busy, so we need would welcome your help.
Friendly Visitor
Some residents enjoy spending time in their room having one on one conversation This is a great chance to build a rapport with a resident, learn about their past and rich experiences.
Tuck Shop Assistant
Many of our residents are unable to get out into the community to shop for smaller items such as chocolate bars, gum, note pads and birthday cards and need our volunteers to staff the tuck shop. We also have a traveling tuck shop that will go throughout the home for those who are unable to come to the Tuck Shop.
Meal Enhancement
Care levels vary throughout the home and some of our residents need more assistance with eating their meals. This is a unique program that allows for one to one time together in a supervised setting.
Administration Volunteer
Whether you are getting into the medical administration field, or you enjoy the tasks of organizing and learning new skills. This opportunity may be for you.
