Idlewyld Manor Family Council Meeting

PRESENT:  Cindy Allen, Mary Newman, Barb Vacon, Ann Bennett, Anne Ross-Muschallik, Beth Hibbard, Bob Hibbard, Bruce Hamilton, Dave Taylor, John Bouman, Kathleen Sharkey, Margaret Cross, Margaret Figliola, Nan Uzbalis, Rose Linton, Vinzi Calder


  1. CALL TO ORDER:   6:33 PM


  1. GUEST SPEAKERS: Renee Guder, Senior Administrator

                                    Bahar Karimi, Administrator



  • Renee introduced herself to the Family Council members present and provided a synopsis of her background.
  • She advised an integral part of her responsibility is to build a relationship with Family Council.
  • She advised there are plans to add a Resident Care Supervisor
  • When asked, she also advised volunteers will be allowed back at Idlewyld Manor when the Province allows.
  • There will be an additional physio therapist and 3.5 assistants hired.
  • Moving to Make It Happen raised $80,000 for the Thrive Group
  • The money raised by Idlewyld Manor will be used to purchase furniture for Resident rooms.
  • The proceeds of the Raffle, the BBQ and the 50/50 draw were $1500.00



  • Bahar announced the resignation of Glynis Cox, Manager of Recreation and Volunteer Services.

5.1 Move to Make it Happen – The baskets were completed and donated.

5.2 The July and August meeting may be held in the Memorial garden as Provincial regulations permit and as approved by Idlewyld Management

      5.3 Upcoming events as advised in the June newsletter include:  Strawberry                     Social, Garden party, Father’s Day

5.4 A new Music Therapist (Molly) and Dietician have been hired

5.5 Photo Gallery pictures wanted for the family photo display in the lobby


  1. Ongoing Business


6.1   Employee Recognition:   It was advised the certificates may be distributed to all staff at a planned staff barbeque to be held in June.

6.2   Garden Committee:  Planting in the Unity and Memorial Garden was to be completed in the days following the meeting.  Lilac trees donated by The Hobson family were to be planted on June 10, 2021.  There are funds remaining to purchase Mums in the Fall.






  1. REPORTS:   Treasurer’s Report:

$65.85 cash and $760.15 in the bank; Total $826.00



  1. 50/50 DRAW:  N/A


  1. ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:  Beth thanked everyone who had helped to                                        make Marie’s 101st birthday very enjoyable.


  1. ADJOURNMENT:  The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 pm
