  1. ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:

It was noted the Recreation department is stretched thin covering visits and with COVID restrictions there is less activity and stimulation for Residents.  This has detrimentally affected all residents.  What is being done to keep Residents involved and active?*

A member of Council recommended the purchase and use of Smart TVs in each home area.  Smart TVs are recommended by the Alzheimer’s Society as “active participation in media is an important part of the lives of the elderly.  Recent studies show that music, films and TV are key components to their well-being”.   It was noted that Smart TVs are available in all home areas at St Peter’s.*

The question was raised – is there currently access to WI-FI for all Residents?*

Is the Thrive Van available for Residents to use for transportation to appointments?*

Are the staff being tested every 5 days as is required by Essential Family Caregivers?*

*Cindy to discuss these items with Management and an update will be sent when we have a response.

For those who have been having challenges with COVID Testing, everyone in attendance agreed the most efficient testing centre for appointments and results is located at Mohawk College on West 5th and Fennell.   Test results are usually available within 24 hours.

It was decided regular Family Council meetings will resume via Zoom.  Scheduled meetings will follow our usual timeframe – the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

For those unable to attend by Zoom an alternate plan is being put in place.
